Cook is the last capital city seat which is a safe Coalition seat all remaining such as Mitchell are below 5%. I am excluding Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast ones as they are non Capital city. This was once a marginal and then Pivotal to the election of the Whitlam government. Today it is closest to a heartland seat and a prime Leadership seat for Libs in the Teal era. i think a few areas such as Cronulla are progressive and Tealish but i still doubt a teal can win this seat.

It’s interesting to see how this seat has become safer for Liberals and was even held by Labor in the 70’s (I’m aware it was on more Labor friendly boundaries back then) whereby other seats traditional Liberal strongholds are no longer held by them or are very marginal. I’m not a local so it would interesting to see what sort of impact One Nation would have here.
@ Spacefish
I am not sure if the boundaries were Labor friendly back then. On the link below you can see an interactive map of each electorate at every election since Federation. Also if you link at Malcolm Mackerras article i shared above that when Whitlam was PM every square inch of what is Cook now was held by Labor.

Interesting, I thought Cook was on bigger boundaries but it seems to be similar, I think I was getting the neighbouring seat mixed up with Cook.
I think this is the seat where traditional profile of many voters resembles the closest to Liberal Party politicians especially these moment with the rise of One Nation and Teals. This area is more religious than the National Average despite still being heavily Anglo during the period of recent increases of non-religion being ticked among Anglos and support for Gay Marriage is below the National Average (55% Yes although the older boundaries does have a large Greek Population).
No Religion – 33.5% in Sutherland compared to 38.4% Nationally
Catholic – 27.3% in Sutherland compared to 20% Nationally
Anglican- 16.3% in Sutherland compared to 9.8% Nationally
Interestingly on 3.1% of people in the Shire follow a non Chirstian religion compared to 10% nationally so it is way more Christian than average. Interestingly even in 2001 only 2.2% followed a Non Christian religion so it has not diversified much compared to rest of the Nation where that figure has doubled.
In terms of Language
13.9% spoke another langauge other than English at home and in 2001 that was 10% so again not much diversification
